The United States Constitution was written over 200 years ago. A lot of things have changed during that time. One big thing that has changed and we don't even realize it, is the meaning of words. When the Constitution was written, it used words and their associated meaning from the late 1700s. Over time the meaning of those words chosen have changed or at least new definitions have been added to their meaning. The original draft writers had no idea of what the words chosen would mean in the future. Yet, today, when we read the Constitution we use the words with current definitions. This is how we get the true meaning wrong.
Our attempt, in this eBook, is to provide a copy of the United States Constitution. Within this document, all the words that we feel are extremely important or may have a changed meaning are highlighted. As you read the document, you can click on any of these highlighted words and you will be brought to the meaning of that word from a dictionary that was written and used at the time of the Constitution, late 1700s. Doesn't it make a lot of sense to be using the same definitions as the original drafters. Well, we do and we feel as though it is the only true way the this document can truly be read with the same meaning as when it was written. This is how the constitution is explained.
